Day one is in the books… The only negative of the day was that it took forever to get the car rental because O’Hare Airport has literally the worst signage you’ve ever seen.
After finally getting in the car and parking next to the Shedd Aquarium, we walked down to The Route 66 Start signs (there are two across the street from each other). Then we went to check out Cloud Gate and ate some lunch.
Because this is Hunter’s Route 66 trip, there will be quite a lot of animals involved, and today was our first experience. The Shedd Aquarium is absolutely amazing! Hunter had already known all about Nickel, the green sea turtle, whom he finally got to meet (of course he did).
When Hunter was ready to leave the aquarium we began our way down Route 66 from that start sign we had visited earlier all the way to Pontiac, IL. Because we left Chicago late most of the stuff that we would’ve seen today was closed but that’s OK… Tomorrow’s a new day.
