In a desire to be a local tourist, I revisit a school trip from my childhood. There are no grand gates to enter Old Bethpage restoration village, instead it’s entry is on a side-road. Once I purchased my titcket, and began my way into the town, I was brought back to third grade and the honey stick I purchased at the General Store. As I explored, I remembered, this is not a town that existed but instead rescued housed from across Long Island that have been placed on the property. It puts me in mind of Little House on the Prairie as all buildings are nice distances from each other. i visited the two general stores, the milliner, a home where Saturday’s was being prepared, and the farm. All the buildings are staffed with costumed guides to explain the building’s significance and answer questions. It’s a really nice way to spend an afternoon.
