Now listen, I try not to do anything twice, except when they are amazingly epically life altering, and the skaterboarders at the Venice Skatepark qualify.
I have loved skateboarding since high school and wished I was cool enough to be friends with the guys who skateboarded (I was not), but that didn’t stop me from loving it. When I got an X-Gamer for a kid instead of the footballer his dad wanted, I scored big time.
What I have been lucky enough to see here has been nothing short of amazing. I love this community. They are so respectful of each other’s craft and learning curve. They take care of each other. I’ve watched older skaters take the time to teach a young kid (they’re the ones doing the push-ups). I watched the skaters work and work and work to get tricks and when they fell (which was often) there was no embarrassment or ridicule. And when a trick was landed…respect.
In 2022 I went down to the skatepark figuring I would watch for a bit before I went on my way. My left shoulder started getting really warm. When I checked the time I spent had two hours like they were two minutes..
This is mostly in no order, but there are some that go with videos so I tried to group them, but either way, watch these kids fly.
We named him Ryan Atwood
Cause sometimes, it’s about more than skating…also no idea how I did the slow motion thing…lol He spent a good portion of time working and talking to the younger kid.
He had been working for a while before he landed this.
