Panels
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child
My first panel of The Con was Harry Potter and the Cursed Child with the original London and Broadway cast. I had seen it just two months prior, and when I stood on the stage door line I had thanked Paul Thornley (Ron Weasley) for working the line even though he had just acted for six hours, and he thanked me for waiting for them because I has sat through it all, so I already had an affinity for him, but then he told the story of how he got the role in London. He explained that he when he read the first Harry Potter book, he loved the book about the car and then realized it had two prequels! We all howled with laughter including his fellow actors.
The Passage
Let’s start with that my second favourite book of all time is The Passage trilogy by Justin Cronin…I not only got to sit in on a panel with him (the show they tried to put together strayed way to far from the source material to make it work) and he signed a book for me where I got to tell him everything I love so much about the books. MUST READ!
A Discovery of Witches
When I read A Discovery of Witches, I could see the characters, which is something I struggle with…I really can’t envision characters. So when I met the thousands years old vampire through Debrah Harkness’ words, I saw Matthew Goodall (the kid from the Mandy Moore president’s daughter movie vs the Katie Holmes one). So as I sat listening to Harkness talk, and then watched the first episode and a very adult Matthew Goodall came across the screen, I almost yelped aloud! Fantastic books with an equally fantastic small screen adaptation!
Mark Sheppard
During it’s 15 years on television, Supernatural developed its own Con, so the actors didn’t go to regional ones. Mark Sheppard had been off the show for a while, so I was in the second row for his panel, which was unbelievable … It was just us and Mark…no handler, no introduction…he walked out with a microphone and said, what do you want to know? Fans asked questions for an hour and he was incredibly candid and funny. Later that day I went to meet him for a signature on my shirt that I have for all of his characters I found him to be just as charming and kind.

David Boreanaz
If you’ve read previous years, you know my obsession with Joss Whedon’s writing. My 2018 Whedon-verse moment was David Boreanaz’s SEAL Team panel where people asked a lot of Angel questions!

We went to the Cosplay Championships this year, and what a show. This is NOT store bought costumes by a long stretch.
