Bixby Bridge
Between Carmel and Julia Pfeiffer State Park, the bridge is not nearly as daunting as it appears.

Route 66 – Day Seventeen – Los Angeles
So this is it… We got a pic of Hunter at the Hollywood sign, grabbed breakfast at a restaurant I read about in a novel, went to La Brea Tar Pits, and had dinner with the friend I made my last night in Cali this summer. Epic Trip!

Stephanie and Hunter, you just completed the 2,400 miles of Route 66 plus several side trips, what will you do now? We’re going to Disney!!!!!! I mean…duh (in Billie Eilish vocals).

Route 66 – Day Fifteen – San Bernadino, CA to Santa Monica, CA
We said goodbye to the Wigwam and made our way to the end of the trail. We continued to take pics of Route 66 sites, quickly stopped at a UPS Store, and did a side trip to see two special houses, and then … we finally made it… So, Route 66 has two ending points.…

Route 66 – Day Fourteen – Needles, CA to San Bernadino, CA
Today started by leaving Needles in already 90+ degree weather at 8:30 am. INSANE! Let’s not discuss what the desert has done to my hair. And the car has decided that it needs an oil change. I hadn’t realized it last night, but we didn’t need to go to the museum for our stamp… Instead…

Route 66 – Day Eleven – Gallup, NM to Flagstaff, AZ

But never fear, Chuck D and I welcomed ourselves to the state with a rousing rendition of “By The Time I Get to Arizona”. Route 66 winds…

Route 66 – Day Ten – Albuquerque, NM to Gallup, NM
Hunter and I both woke early this morning. Because we came in from the Santa Fe loop yesterday and Albuquerque is where old and older Route 66 meet, I decided to backtrack a bit. I specifically wanted to see The Musical Highway. The National Geographic Channel funded this attraction for a program called “Crowd Control.”…

Route 66 – Day Nine – Santa Rosa, NM to Albuquerque, NM
The room alarm went off at 6 AM… Need I even say more? So with an extra early start Hunter and I got ready and headed out to Las Vegas… No not that Las Vegas… Las Vegas, New Mexico! We took the pre-1937 route 66 option known also as the Santa Fe Loop. We drove…
