Pizza – This all started with a pizza lunch at the office in the winter of 2023 — long before our Pacific Coast Highway trip. I was sitting with my boss, mid-slice, when she said, “You should take your son to Zion,” and told me about her jeep tour adventure. I nodded like I knew what Zion was (I didn’t), and moved on with my day. We were already deep into planning PCH. But that conversation stuck in the back of my mind.
Fast forward to this year’s trip planning: curiosity got the better of me. Not only did I discover a stunning national park, but a whole road trip with a name — The Mighty Five. If you know me, you know how I love branding, and so just like that, an idea was born. I still want to drive The Lincoln Highway someday, but first… I really want to see Monument Valley.
The trip took on a dozen different shapes as I planned — death-defying drive along Hell’s Backbone, Mount Rushmore hikes, glamping in a teepee at Devil’s Tower, summer stops in Colorado ski towns. But eventually, we landed on this version. So please come along as we take in seven national parks, three slot canyons, two water adventures, two friends, two jeep tours, and one Old Faithful.
No theme parks. No zoos. No aquariums. Just nature and hiking and lots of it. And if you know me, you know how much I love nature and exercise (not even a little). So… here we go again.
We want you to come along, but this year, please be patient — WiFi won’t be a nightly guarantee. I’ll post when I can, and I promise to make it worth the wait.
Fifteen days. From Nevada (starting with a hug from Sabrina), through Utah, into Idaho, hanging in Wyoming, and ending in Montana (with a hug from Hilary).
Let’s do this.

Vertullo Summary (forevermore known as the Unreliable Summary): 15 Days and lots of hiking.
